Annette Stover, Broker/ Owner
Annette the current owner of United Country/Country Lane’s Real Estate. She has been in Real Estate since 2000 and been working with United family from the beginning. She and her husband had a hard to sell property and after doing what most people do (list their home with other real estate companies) their home still had not sold after 3 years. She then made the move to list with United and the home sold in less then 6 months. Action speaks louder then words with most people and that was the case with Annette. Her passion is her family and work. She works very hard to find her clients that perfect property, then works to get it finalized so that it goes very smooth for both buyer and seller.

She is very attentive to people's needs and feelings. "There isn't a better feeling than to sell a home to a newly married couple or a single first time buyer." Annette enjoys seeing the look on their face when she tells them the deal is complete and they are now the proud owner of their new home. She says it just doesn't get any better than that! She prides herself in listening to people and understanding from the very first meeting what it is they are looking for, but most importantly what they can afford.

Annette is the proud owner and hopes to build an already thriving business into a bigger and better company. She also enjoys the challenge of listing and selling commercial properties. Some of the properties she likes to specialize in, besides residential would be mobile home parks big or small, multi family units not a problem either, maybe a bowling alley or convenience store? They can be found too! Whatever it is you are looking for, she knows where to go to find that property.

Karen McCall,Broker
Karen D McCall fell in love with our area in 1987 when she came on a horse back riding trip with the Charleston Air Force Base's Recreation Group. Karen always loved the mountains, she rafted the Nantahala every summer for 10 years or more. She went camping and rock climbing at Table Rock, Crowders Mountain, and loved to camp at Burkemont Mountain. She enjoyed horseback riding in Burke County, SCUBA diving in Pineville, and loved panning for gold in the creeks of Golden Valley.

Moving from her executive position in Charlotte, NC where she was Operations Manager for Western Temporary Services, a California based firm which holds the distinction of being the largest privately held temporary help firm in the Nation, to a log cabin on Grayson Creek in Golden Valley was a shock. "I moved here with my boys in 1990." McCall says, "We moved from a 364 unit apartment complex on Eastway Drive in Charlotte to a log cabin in the woods. We heated with wood and cooled with fans. I had no idea what we were getting into. I moved to the mountains to get back to nature and spent three weeks trying to keep nature out."

A rat-race drop out from the tumultuous 1980's, Karen eschewed Robert's Rules for Mother Nature's. In a long distance phone call from Western's Corporate Office to the log cabin, Karen remembers explaining to a puzzled executive, "It's a lifestyle thing."

Although the 200-year-old-log-cabin experiment only lasted one winter, Karen and her children, George and Michael Day stayed in the area. In 1992 she married Coldwell County native James McCall. They leased the Edison Queen Place in Golden Valley, a 12 room, frame, farm-house on 108 acres, where they lived for 17 years, eventually moving 4 miles to Sunshine, NC. into Mountain Lakes Community. That's where they reside today in their 1976 split-level on 5 acres with, Karen says, "Central heat and air."

In love with her community, Karen has written extensively about the area, runs a website, a blog, Facebook page, and emails a monthly newsletter to subscribers. She works diligently with the Golden Valley Community Club, in operation since 1952, and is a volunteer with the Cherry Mountain Fire Department Auxiliary. "I think we should give back when we can." she says, and give back she does. She's worked with Poco Rhythm Ranch, Camp McCall, Cub Scouts and has participated in civic activities, like the community club. "I have always been an active fan of the outdoors and I am still in love with North Carolina's glorious foothills." Several accidents have relegated McCall, now a Grandmother, more to the indoors than the outdoors, but she says, "My Mama told me, I'd be sorry one day, and I"m getting awful slow about getting up. But sorry? The only thing I'm sorry about is not moving here sooner."

Karen has been a licensed real estate agent since 2003, and a licensed Broker since 2004. She's served on the Board of Directors of the Rutherford County Board of REALTORS, is the recipient of the President's Award, has been a member of the RE/MAX 100% Club, and holds several other honors including the Rutherford County Rural Development's Woman of the Year Award. Karen is one of Rutherford County's first e-Pros® and has joined United Country to specialize in the Golden Valley, Sunshine, and Duncan's Creek Communities where she considers herself to be a Global Agent in a Hyper-Local Market. Whether you're buying or selling real estate you might want to call Karen.
